🔵 Spurs Predicted Line-Up vs Bayern Munich: Final Test Before Super Cup Clash with PSG
Tottenham Hotspur gear up for their final pre-season test as they travel to the Allianz Arena to take on Bayern Munich — a fixture that promises to be more than just a friendly. With the UEFA Super Cup against PSG looming next Wednesday, Thomas Frank is expected to field his strongest available XI to fine-tune preparations.
However, injuries are starting to bite, with Destiny Udogie, Radu Drăgușin, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, and Kota Takai all ruled out while Dominic Solanke’s fitness also remains uncertain after failing to return in the Newcastle game.
Here’s our predicted starting XI for Sunday’s 5:30pm kickoff in Munich.
🧤 Goalkeeper: Guglielmo Vicario
Back between the sticks after sitting out against Newcastle. With the Super Cup just days away, Vicario is expected to return and start both this match and the clash in Udine.
🔒 Defence
Right-Back: Pedro Porro
Porro has seen plenty of minutes in pre-season but should return to the starting line-up here. With Spence likely to be used on the left, Porro keeps his spot on the right.
Centre-Backs: Cristian Romero (Captain) & Micky van de Ven
Romero and Van de Ven looked rock solid in the North London Derby win over Arsenal. That chemistry is crucial, and Frank seems to be building his defence around them. Romero is also the likely candidate to take the captain’s armband, especially with Maddison sidelined.
Left-Back: Djed Spence
With Destiny Udogie injured and no senior left-back available, Spence gets the nod once again. His display against Arsenal — nullifying Bukayo Saka — showed he can do the job even on his weaker side.
⚙️ Midfield
Defensive Midfielder: João Palhinha
A debut in familiar surroundings. Palhinha walks straight into the XI at the Allianz Arena against his former club. Frank will be keen to start bedding him into the system immediately.
Central Midfielder: Rodrigo Bentancur
Bentancur’s best position is as a number 8 — now he’ll finally have the license to play there, thanks to Palhinha’s presence. Expect 45 minutes from him before potentially rotating with Lucas Bergvall.
Attacking Midfielder: Pape Matar Sarr
Perhaps the surprise of pre-season. Sarr has been deployed in an advanced role and responded with three goals and some smart movement into the box. While not a classic No.10, his late runs and energy make him an effective attacking outlet.
🔥 Attack
Right Wing: Mohammed Kudus
Kudus is nailed on to start. He was rested against Newcastle and is expected to be unleashed against Bayern. With Son gone, Kudus looks like Spurs’ new talisman on the flanks.
Left Wing: Wilson Odobert
The 20-year-old has looked sharp in pre-season and is edging ahead of Mathys Tel for a start on the left. His energy and creativity could be key on the counter.
Striker: Richarlison
With Solanke still being eased back in, Richarlison should lead the line. He hasn’t looked razor-sharp in front of goal so far this summer — but he’ll need to be more clinical in this dress rehearsal for PSG.
🏟️ Predicted Starting XI
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Vicario
Porro – Romero (C) – Van de Ven – Spence
Palhinha – Bentancur
Kudus – Sarr – Odobert
Richarlison
🧠 Tactical Notes
Expect Spurs to be compact, patient, and counter-attacking in style. Frank’s side will likely sit deep and try to exploit Kudus and Oddei’s pace on the break. With Palhinha offering the steel in midfield, and Romero leading from the back, this will be the closest resemblance yet to Spurs’ Super Cup XI.
🗣️ Score Predictions
Brian: 2-2 draw
Ben: 1-1 draw
It won’t be an easy test with Harry Kane likely to feature for Bayern, but it’s the perfect opportunity to gauge where this Spurs side stands ahead of the season’s first major challenge.
